Several news reports coming out of Peru indicate Peru national team goalkeeper Pedro Gallese is being targeted by an MLS club after spending the 2019 domestic season with Alianza Lima.

The 29-year-old Gallese has established himself as Peru's No. 1 between the posts, making 16 starts in their successful campaign to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and also playing in all three group matches there.

He also helped La Blanquirroja reach the final of the 2019 Copa America, where they fell 3-1 to host Brazil.

Though Peruvian outlet OvaciĆ³n has Orlando City named as Gallese's destination, another report from Seattle-based outlet Sports Pulso claims that although he "has been in talks for over a week over his possible arrival in MLS" Orlando is "not precisely" where Gallese will arrive.

Prior to joining Alianza Lima, Gallese had played in Liga MX with Veracruz for part of three seasons. His entire pro career before that came in his homeland, first with Universidad San Martin and then Club Juan Aurich.

Gallese would continue a trend of his international teammates playing their club soccer in MLS. Forward Raul Ruidiaz helped the Seattle Sounders win the 2019 MLS Cup in his first full season in the league. NYCFC's Alexander Callens and Portland's Andy Polo were also on Peru's recent Copa America roster. Another Peruvian international, defender Carlos Zambrano, was also linked to an MLS move this week, with LA Galaxy reportedly the favorites after initial interest from Seattle.
