The New England Revolution completed a major signing on Friday, announcing the transfer of Poland youth international forward Adam Buksa from Polish club Pogon Szczecin on a Designated-Player contract.

Buksa, 23, arrives with five years of professional experience in Poland's Ekstraklasa and will be added to the roster as a DP upon receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). New England's interest was initially reported by The Athletic earlier this month, with the outlet citing one source who placed the Buksa transfer fee in the $2-7 million range.

ā€œWe are delighted to sign Adam Buksa to a Designated Player contract. Adam is a talented striker who will complement our group of attacking players and our team,ā€ said Revs sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena in a club release. ā€œWe are excited to welcome him to the New England Revolution, and look forward to working with him.ā€

Buksa scored 22 goals in 52 games (47 starts) across all competitions for Pogon Szczecin after arriving from Zagłębie Lubin in July 2018. He was the leading scorer thus far in their current campaign with seven goals in 18 appearances and departs with the club in second place in the table, three points behind leaders Legia Warsaw. He began his pro career with Lechia Gdansk in 2014 and also spent time with Wisła Krakow, Hutnik Krakow, Garbarnia Krakow and Novara.

Buksa has represented Poland at the Under-21, U-19 and U-17 levels and earned his first call-up to Poland's senior team a little over a year ago. He joins striker Gustavo Bou and playmaker Carles Gil as the Revsā€™ third DP as Arena looks to improve on his teamā€™s 50 goals in 34 regular-season games in 2019.

New England's 2020 season kicks off Feb. 29 at the Montreal Impact.
