Exploria Stadium to host critical Nations League clash between USMNT and Canada

Orlando City Stadium - USMNT - Panama - World Cup qualifier

Exploria Stadium, home of Orlando City SC, will host a critical Concacaf Nations League showdown between the US men’s national team and Canada on Nov. 15, U.S. Soccer announced Friday.

The USMNT last played in Orlando March 21, beating Ecuador, 1-0, in an international friendly.

“Winning at home is critical in these tournaments, so finding a homefield advantage is important," “USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter said in a statement. “When you talk about great environments, the atmosphere in this stadium is one of the best in the country. Like we’ve seen in previous visits, the fans in Orlando are there when you need them and we look forward to their support.”

The USMNT open Nations League play next month with their first Group A match against Cuba on Oct. 11 (7 pm ET | FS1, UniMás, TUDN) at Audi Field in Washington D.C. The first anticipated showdown with Canada, which defeated Cuba twice earlier this month by a 7-0 aggregate scoreline, is set for Oct. 15 (7:30 pm ET | ESPN2, UniMás, TUDN, TSN) at BMO Field.

With the participants for the final round of Concacaf qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be determined based on FIFA rankings at the conclusion of this tournament, Nations League’s matches have added significance for their impact on the rankings.
