Seattle Sounders' spring Designated Player signing Xavier Arreaga headlines the MLS contingent called into the Ecuador national team for a pair of friendlies during the September international break.

Orlando City midfielder Sebastian Mendez and LAFC left back Diego Palacios are also coming into coach Hernan Dario Gomez's side, which plays Peru at Red Bull Arena on Sept. 5 and at home against Bolivia on Sept. 10. Another inclusion is forward Romario Ibarra, who's under contract with Minnesota United, though is currently on loan at Liga MX side Pachuca.

The first match could see Arreaga, a center back who joined Seattle at the close of the 2019 MLS Primary Transfer window, tasked with trying to shut down Sounders' teammate and Peruvian striker Raul Ruidiaz.

Gomez frequently leaned on several MLS players in his last job, managing the Panama national team to qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
