The New England Revolution have signed another goalkeeper to a contract extension, as the club announced Friday that veteran Brad Knighton has signed a new deal.

Knighton, in his 12th MLS season and ninth with the Revolution, has accrued a 15-16-12 record across his time with the club. He’s currently a backup to Matt Turner, who signed a multi-year deal earlier this week.

“I’m pleased that we have been able to reach a new contract agreement with Brad Knighton. Brad is an exceptional teammate and a proven goalkeeper in our league.” Revolution sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said. “With the signing of Brad and Matt Turner, I feel we have solidified our goalkeeping position at the Revolution for a number of years.”

Knighton, who entered MLS in 2007, has also been on the books of MLS sides Philadelphia Union and Vancouver Whitecaps. He also had stints with the Carolina Railhawks (now North Carolina FC), the Richmond Kickers and the Portland Timbers before their jump to MLS.

Come 2020, Knighton will join Shalrie Joseph, Matt Reis and Chris Tierney as the only players in New England’s history to spend at least 10 seasons with the club.
