Reports out of Spain and the U.S. say the Seattle Sounders are closing in on signing 22-year-old Argentine midfielder Emanuel Cecchini on loan from second-division Spanish side Malaga with an option to buy.
Cecchini has been on Malaga's books since the beginning of the 2017-18 season, but has spent most of his time since then in the Western Hemisphere back on loan at Club Leon in Liga MX, and at Banfield, the Argentine club that developed him.
Seattle would be signing him on loan for the remainder of 2019 with the option to buy afterward. Likely a depth piece rather than immediate starter, Cecchini could potentially play in a No. 8, No. 6 or even a wide midfield role, according to Sounder at Heart.
