Goalkeeper Evan Bush has signed a new three-year contract to remain with the Montreal Impact, the club announced Friday, after recently being named the Impact's defensive player of the year for 2018.

Bush, who will be 33 next March, kept a career-high 10 clean sheets in 2018 for the Impact and was the MLS' top goalkeeper according to the Audi Player Index. Impact supporters also voted Bush the 2018 Videotron Player of the Year, having selected him for the team's player of the week nine times.

“Evan signing a new contract with the Impact is excellent news for the future of this team,” coach Remi Garde said in a statement. “His excellent work daily with [goalkeeper coach] Joel Bats, alongside the group’s three other goalkeepers, allowed him to have a very good 2018 season. I’m happy to be able to count on him next season.”

In Bush's seventh season in MLS and eighth overall with the Impact, he led all MLS goalkeepers with 132 saves reached the benchmarks of 50 career MLS wins and 150 total appearances for the Impact between the first and second divisions. Three times, Bush was named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week starting XI, and he made the bench three more times.

He was selected three times on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week, another three times on the bench, and was voted Videotron Player of the Game nine times by the supporters, a season-high for the Bleu-blanc-noir in 2018.

“I am very excited to continue with the Impact and that my family and I will call Montreal our home for the foreseeable future,” Bush said in a statement. “The most important aspect of the decision was making sure my wife and kids were happy. I’d like to thank the people of Montreal for accepting us as one of their own over the last eight years through the relationships we have established, making this decision an easy one for us.”
