Samuel Armenteros's debut goal in MLS on Saturday was an emotional event, in more ways than one.
Armenteros's game-winner was impeccably timed, coming in the 81st minute to land the Portland Timbers a 2-1 win over LAFC at Providence Park -- during the Timbers Army's traditional singalong of "You Are My Sunshine." Adding to the moment, Timber Jim was leading the singalong when it happened.

The backstory to this, as profiled in The Oregonian in 2014, is that the tradition at began as a tribute to Timber Jim's daughter, who died in a car accident. Timber Jim, the predecessor to current mascot Timber Joey, began singing the song during a game following her death, while holding his granddaughter, who survived the crash.
The Timbers Army began singing the song at every game in the 80th minute, and on Saturday, the bittersweet anthem found a happy moment on the soccer field, with the man who kicked it off in the middle of the action.
