TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

The Montreal Impact have featured one of the most porous defenses in MLS over the opening months of the 2018 season, and according to a local media report, the club may buttress the back line and deep midfield with a reinforcement from overseas.

RDS journalist and retired Impact player Patrick Leduc reported that Montreal have “established contact” with French midfielder/defender Thomas Monconduit, captain of Ligue 1 side Amiens, with an eye towards a potential transfer.

Monconduit, 27, is a product of the Auxerre youth system who's been at the heart of one of French soccer’s most amazing stories of the past few years.

Led by resourceful manager Christophe Pelissier, Amiens have earned back-to-back promotions, rising from the third tier to Ligue 2 to midtable Ligue 1 side in just three seasons, with the club from northern France set to comfortably survive their first year in the top flight.

Monconduit appears capable of filling either a center-back slot or holding midfield role for the Impact, who have conceded an MLS-high 17 goals in their first seven games, going 2-5 to start 2018.
