Reid and Mike are joined by Western Conference Analyst Phil Luetchford to break down the first great double-game week of the season. They also touch on which single-game week players might be worth considering, who’s likely to get rotated and get a few jabs in at Jason while he’s MIA.
Remember all those past weeks where you heard how the odds put away teams at a disadvantage? Well this was the week that six away teams decided to remind us why the odds are always just probable results. These unexpected outcomes have caused some adjustments to my MLS Fantasy top 50 rankings, but with several weeks of double games coming up, I’m waiting for the dust to settle before doing anything drastic.
Below is my updated list of the top 50 players. This list is not designed to focus just on the upcoming fantasy round, but instead looks at where players my fall in the overall rankings. Players with an asterisk are on injury watch and may soon be removed from the list.
|17||Erick "Cubo" Torres||FWD||HOU||8.6|
|37||Giovani dos Santos||FWD||LA||9.8|
There were only small adjustments in the top 30 with the one notable drop being Ignacio Piatti who looked more like he was falling into Montreal’s past poor form than helping them start a successful rally. Several successful games resulted in Yamil Asad and Jack Harrison’s continued climb up the ranks but Anibal Godoy is the big winner jumping 11 positions due to his continued return of consistent points.
Kaká got his second attempt at starting the 2017 season last weekend and marked it with a stoppage time goal and a top 25 spot on my list. Goals and clean sheets have earned pricy defenders Florian Jungwirth and Eriq Zavaleta a spot among other top defenders, and Dom Dwyer makes his first appearance after scoring 3 goals in 4 games.
Are there any other players who you would add to this list? If you make a well-reasoned case for an addition, adjustment, or removal of a player in the comments, I’ll take a look and consider it for a future week.
