MLS Fantasy Rewind: Chicago Fire trio come up big in Round 33

Like a Halloween warehouse store on October 30, MLS Fantasy Manager is winding down into its final weekend.

With Decision Day's simultaneous starts as part of the final push to the Playoffs, every team, regardless of their playoff status, has a chance to be a fantasy standout in the final rounds. Take for example the Chicago Fire, who were the most represented team on the Round 33 Dream Team.

Chicago's 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Sunday was full of defender bonuses for the Fire that saw both Jonathan Campbell ($5.1) and Brandon Vincent ($4.5) show up big. Both picked up assists, and had sizable defending bonuses to boot as they upset the Revolution. David Accam also made the Dream Team squad with his goal and assist.

The top producer on the round went to Ignacio Piatti ($11.9), mostly on the strength of his two goals in the Montreal Impact’s 2-2 draw with Toronto FC. As the Impact push to improve their playoff seeding, and the Didier Drogba situation continues to evolve, it’s probably a good bet he’ll be a captain-worthy player in the final round.

D.C. United were the other team that gave multiple players to the ideal squad, with both Lloyd Sam ($9.9) and Patrick Mullins ($6.8) earning a spot with their offensive production.

The rest of the dream team is as follows:

Top points in Round 33 went to Bradley Vogel, whose Team NFC racked up 116 points by captaining Bradley Wright-Phillips, and making good use of Jozy Altidore ($9.9), Piatti, and Campbell. Congrats and enjoy your prize!

Now’s the time to say goodbye…

It’s been another fun year of MLS Fantasy Manager, but for those of you jockeying for position in your leagues, it’s not time for nostalgia yet. So here’s what you need to know for Round 34:

The transfer deadline is October 23rd at 4 pm.

That’s pretty much it. With every kickoff happening at exactly the same time, there’s no reason to even think about transferring until lineups are announced about an hour beforehand. Last round was an unlimited transfer situation, so hopefully you transferred thoughtfully. Take the penalty points if you have to, just go for broke. There’s nothing to lose!

I mentioned above that captaining Piatti seems a solid idea. So who’s hot right now? Justen Glad ($5.0) has been good for better than five points in his last three appearances and RSL have a lot to play for in the final round. Also don’t sleep on Mullins, with D.C. United on fire going into the playoffs.

Thanks everyone for a great MLS Fantasy season and good luck in Round 34!
