Save of the Week

Orlando City SC's Joe Bendik wins MLS Save of the Week for Week 27

At this point, we might as well name the MLS Save of the Week presented by Phillips 66 award after Joe Bendik.

The Orlando City goalkeeper won his 11th Save of the Week honor of the season, taking home the Week 27 award for his incredible diving save on Didier Drogba in Orlando’s 4-1 win at the Montreal Impact last Wednesday.

Bendik made the stop in the 39th minute, racing across the face of goal and laying out to deny Drogba’s point-blank effort after Hassoun Camara headed a Donny Toia long ball across the face of goal and into Drogba’s path.

Bendik cruised to the title, easily beating New York Red Bulls ‘keeper Luis Robles and LA Galaxy backstop Brian Rowe in the early rounds before taking home 92 percent of the fan vote to dispatch D.C.’s Bill Hamid in the final.
