Orlando City's virtual tour gives fans tantalizing glimpses of new stadium | SIDELINE

Orlando City may have pushed back the opening of their new downtown stadium to 2017, but fans can now take a fun, and detailed, peek at what game day will feel like.

Orlando have launched a virtual 360-degree 3D viewer called Virtual Venue that allows fans to see sightlines from any seating section or private suite in the Lions' under-construction downtown stadium.

“The Virtual Venue is a state-of-the-art tool that allows fans a sneak peek into our new home next year,” said stadium general manager Scott Neal in a statement. “The functionality is very simple and provides a fantastic view of what’s to come in Parramore."

Orlando City and their new women's team, the Orlando Pride, will play all of 2016 in the Citrus Bowl as construction on the state-of-the-art, 25,500-capacity stadium continues. Orlando has also set up a live camera on the stadium site so fans can watch its progress.

"With the addition of the streaming video camera, fans and media can stay up to date on the latest construction progress being made," Neal added. "The cameras allow fans to pan across the site and zoom in to get a glimpse of all the hard work underway.”

The new stadium will become the third-largest soccer-specific stadium in MLS, after Orlando increased its planned capacity following a very successful start in the league. With an average home crowd of 32,847 at the Citrus Bowl, the Lions enjoyed the second-highest total attendance in the league in 2015 after the Seattle Sounders and are one of the league's most successful expansion franchises to date.

Orlando City will open their season on March 6 at the Citrus Bowl against Real Salt Lake.
