World Cup: Thursday's USMNT scrimmage against Belgium canceled

In what appears to be a sudden reversal of course, the US men's national team has canceled its planned closed-door scrimmage against Belgium that had been scheduled for Thursday, US Soccer announced via Twitter on Wednesday.

Instead of what head coach Jurgen Klinsmann had earlier in the day termed a "training scrimmage," the US will hold two training sessions at their home base, the training grounds of São Paulo FC.

According to media reports, one worry about the game for Belgium coach Marc Wilmots was the potential for delays caused by a local traffic strike. Belgium are currently based in the Sao Paulo suburbs.
