American Exports: Terrence Boyd joins elite company with his 20th goal for Rapid Vienna

AMSTERDAM – Red-hot Rapid Vienna forward Terrence Boyd capped the Austrian Bundesliga season with another goal on Sunday, striking the away side's third to log his 20th tally across all competitions.

The US goal shark was smelling blood in the water early, with one of his shots cleared off the line after just four minutes of play and another effort that struck the frame midway through the opening period. Boyd finally broke through in the 71st minute, capping a fine team move to join Jozy Altidore, Clint Dempsey, Aron Jóhannsson and Earnie Stewart as the only Americans to bag at least 20 goals in a single top-division European campaign.

The goal also pushed Boyd's total for the last two complete terms to 37, the third-highest such haul for an American in consecutive European campaigns. For league runners-up Rapid, the win was their eighth in 11 unbeaten games.

Over in Denmark's Superliga, Conor O'Brien worked 63 midfield minutes in his first Odense BK start since December, a 2-1 home loss to Esbjerg. The New York native left with the game tied, but the hosts would eventually drop their third in four at the friendly confines.

Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg also had a rough day at the office, with a 3-1 defeat to FC Nordsjælland dooming them to a quick turnaround back to the second flight. The Greens lost for the fifth time in their last seven home games to fall five points shy of the safety zone with only one round to go.
