Jurgen Klinsmann has eyes and ears everywhere. He knows what you're doing at all times.
Don't take two bagels from the pregame breakfast line if the sign says to just take one. Klinsmann will know. And he somehow knows the exact 11 players Honduras manager Luis Fernando Suárez (above) is going to select to take on the US national team.
At least, that's the accusation coming out of the Honduras national team camp over the weekend. Honduran newspaper Diez reported on Sunday that they believe ESPN.com soccer columnist Jeffrey Carlisle attended Honduras' training session as a "spy" for Klinsmann ahead of the two teams' important World Cup qualifier in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night (9:30 pm ET | ESPN and Unimas).
This does seem all a bit ludicrous from the outset, but I will admit "Agent Carlisle" does have a hint of espionage to it.
The story cites the fact that Carlisle asked questions like "Is Oscar Boniek García, one of your most talented players, going to be fit to play in one of your biggest games in the qualifying round on Tuesday?"
Where I come from, that's not called spying. That's called reporting. Or journalism. Long live the Honduran media.
