HOW ACQUIRED: Signed a three-year Homegrown Player contract on Feb. 23, 2018.
Vines, who became the seventh academy player to sign a first-team contract with the Rapids, is calm, rangy, technically adept and composed both going forward and defending in space. The 21-year-old has already racked up 3,814 MLS minutes as the Rapids’ starting left back the past two seasons.
INTERNATIONAL: Vines was called into each of Gregg Berhalter's last two January US men's national team camp and earned his first senior national team cap, starting in a 1-0 win over Costa Rica, with his second appearance coming against El Salvador in December. He previously earned call-ups to the U-14, U-15, U-16, U-18 and U-20 national teams
OUTSIDE MLS: Appeared in 29 games on loan for the Charlotte Independence of the USL, 25 from the start, logging 2,303 minutes in 2018
ACADEMY: Vines joined the club in 2013 as a 13-year-old. A versatile, intelligent defender, he was selected to the National Development Academy Best XI as one of the top young players in the country in 2017.
