New York Red Bulls forward Patryk Klimala suspended for MLS Week 15
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued three fines and one suspension following matches played on June 11 and 12 of the 2022 season.
• First MLS goal - vs New England, 6/23/2021
• First MLS assist & start - vs Orlando, 5/29/2021 on Caden Clark goal in 35th minute (W, 2-1)
• First MLS game - vs Philadelphia, 5/15/2021
2022: MLS: Started nine of 13 matches played this season...logged 777 minutes played...recorded four goals and three assists...scored the first goal of the season for New York against San Jose Earthquakes (Feb. 26)...became the 27th different player in Red Bulls 27 season history to score first goal of the season...tallied three assists in one match against Toronto FC (Mar. 5)...became the eighth different player in franchise history to accomplish the feat and the first since Thierry Henry on July 12, 2014...scored his first multi-goal match for New York on April 30 against Chicago Fire FC. Open Cup: Started and played in two Open Cup matches this season...recorded one goal and assist against Charlotte FC...scored his goal in the second minute of the match, which is the fastest goal in franchise history for an Open Cup match.
2021: MLS: Started 26 of 29 matches this season totaling 2,094 minutes… recorded eight goals, which led the club...tallied seven assists, which was tied for the club lead... scored the latest goal in MLS regular season in the 102nd minute of Red Bulls 1-1 tie against New York City FC on September 22... scored his first career MLS goal against New England Revolution on June 23...made his first MLS appearance coming off the bench against Philadelphia Union on May 15… recorded his first MLS start and assist in a 2-1 win over Orlando City SC on May 29. Playoffs: Made his MLS Cup Playoffs debut coming on as a substitute in the 58th minute against the Philadelphia Union on Nov. 20.
PRIOR TO NEW YORK
Klimala signed with Celtic F.C. on January 22, 2020. He made his first appearance on Jan. 29 in a 3-0 win against St. Johnston. The forward accrued 28 appearances and recorded three goals in 681 minutes played across all competitions. He began his professional career at Jagiellonia Bialystok, where he made 47 appearances and scored 11 goals.
Klimala was a member of the Poland U-21 Youth National Team that participated in UEFA European U-21 Championship Qualifying. He recorded two goals and one assist in 278 minutes played over four matches. Klimala has accrued 15 caps for Polish Youth National teams starting with the U-19’s and most now most recently the U-21’s.
New York Red Bulls signed Polish Youth International and Celtic FC striker Patryk Klimala to a four-year MLS contract with a club option on April 22, 2021.
