HOW ACQUIRED: Sixth overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Signed multi-year contract extension on Oct. 7, 2020
Yueill has made 80 appearances (68 starts) since entering MLS in 2017 as the sixth overall pick in that year’s SuperDraft. The Minnesota native and former UCLA midfielder has contributed four goals and 10 assists, often playing in a tempo-setting role that affords him freedom to get forward and track back. He came into his own in 2019 under head coach Matias Almeyda, and continued to play a key role under the Argentine manager in 2020. He’s regarded as one of the best passers in MLS, capable of playing line-splitting balls for onrushing attackers.
OUTSIDE MLS: Made one start for San Jose’s USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC in 2018. Played in six games for Reno in 2017.
INTERNATIONAL: After competing on the U-18 and U-20 levels, the midfielder broke in with the USMNT in 2019 with nine appearances after his debut against Jamaica in June.
COLLEGE: Made 32 starts at UCLA, scored nine goals and provided 17 assists for the Bruins. He set an NCAA record by tallying three assists in 32 seconds against the University of Akron in a 2016 match.
