11 early surprise standout players for the 2021 MLS season
The early days of the 2021 Major League Soccer season have seen an unusual amount of spotlight displays from players who seemingly came out of nowhere.
Acquired: Signed with Real Salt Lake from Real Monarchs on September 25, 2020.
2020 Real Monarchs: In a shortened 2020 season, Brody recorded one goal and one assist in 900 minutes. He started in all 10 of his appearances, reaching a milestone total of 100 appearances for the Monarchs before signing with Real Salt Lake.
2019 Real Monarchs: Brody tallied two assists in 1,339 minutes and started for the Monarchs in all 15 of his appearances, including five starts in which he was given the captain’s armband. Brody made his debut with Real Salt Lake on June 12, 2019 in a US Open Cup match against Los Angeles FC.
2018 Real Monarchs: Moving to right back prior to the 2018 season, Brody was a mainstay on the Monarchs backline where he played 2,161 regular season minutes and scored two goals. In total, Brody featured in 28 matches while making 23 starts.
2017 Real Monarchs: A career year for Brody in 2017 saw him play 25 matches while making 22 starts. Scoring two times, Brody added four assists to his name in 1,897 minutes played.
2016 Real Monarchs: A graduate of Real Salt Lake Academy program, Brody began his professional career playing 22 matches for the Monarchs while making 17 starts. He registered two goals and two assists in his rookie campaign.
