Career Summary

Ring joined Austin FC ahead of its inaugural season in 2021, and has since been a warrior for the team in roles as both a midfielder and a defender when needed. He made 96 regular season and playoff appearances across the Club's first three seasons, recording 10 goals and 15 assists in that span. After his first year with the team, Ring signed a contract extension which made him a Designated Player.

Prior to moving to Austin, Ring made 120 appearances in over four seasons with New York City FC, scoring 10 goals and tallying 13 assists in regular season play. In 2018, Ring was selected as a Coach's pick for the 2018 MLS All-Star Game, where he was a starter against Italian powerhouse Juventus FC.

Ahead of his move to NYCFC, Ring spent the 2014-17 seasons with German side 1. FC Kaiserslautern, where he registered 83 appearances (73 starts), and the 2011-2013 seasons with Borussia Monchengladbach, playing in 21 matches and scoring one (1) goal across all competitions.

A native of Helsinki, Finland, Ring played for two seasons with HJK Helsinki (2010-11) and logged 43 starts in 35 games played, contributing six goals across all competitions. Ring propelled HJK to the Club’s most successful season in 2011, winning the Suomen Cup and the Finnish Veikkausliiga. In the international arena, Ring represented Finland at the senior level in 43 matches (39 starts), scoring two (2) goals while competing in the Baltic Cup, European and World Cup Qualifiers.
