World Cup: US Soccer unveils new all-white USMNT home jersey ahead of Brazil 2014

USA World Cup 2014 kit

The United States national soccer team will head to Brazil dressed as one would expect in the summer heat: decked out in white from head to toe.

On Monday, US Soccer unveiled the new 2014 home kit – to be worn by both the men and women’s senior sides – which is highlighted by gray horizontal pinstripes set over a all-white base and a polo-shirt collar with red trim.

"It's always an honor to wear the colors of your country, and this summer we will be hard to miss in an all-white look," USMNT captain Clint Dempsey said in a statement.

In addition to the white top, the kits also include white shorts and socks for a kind of Real Madrid merengues look that should be ideal in the tropical heat expected at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil. The fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles, and the shorts include vents specifically designed to aid in cooling.

The US face Ghana in their opening Group G match on June 16 in the beach city of Natal, before traveling to the Amazonian city of Manaus to take on Portugal (June 22) and then back to the coast and the city of Recife to finish the group stage against Germany (June 26).
