Whitecaps' Dos Santos leery of full rebuild, but scouting hard for key upgrades

Marc Dos Santos adjusts tie - Vancouver Whitecaps

Marc Dos Santos endured a rough first year in charge of the Vancouver Whitecaps, finishing in the Western Conference basement as several prominent signings failed to pan out.

While he's not ready to blow the entire thing up just yet, he acknowledged that significant talent upgrades are needed in a recent conversation with Daily Hive's Harjeet Johal, describing the long list of positional needs the 'Caps have identified and the globetrotting scouting missions he and his technical staff are currently on as they seek to fulfill them.

“I don’t agree that we need a big change, but we need an important change in major positions," said Dos Santos. "We are looking for a No. 9, two central midfielders, at least another winger, with characteristics that we really want. These are major positions right now that we are looking for."

Dos Santos also provided updates on the club's hunt for a new sporting director, which could be completed by MLS Cup on Nov. 10, and there's plenty of other worthwhile information in the report as well.
