USMNT prospect Cameron Carter-Vickers signs new deal with Tottenham

Cameron Carter-Vickers - Tottenham - 2016-17

September has proven quite the memorable month for Cameron-Carter Vickers.

Carter-Vickers signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, and the new deal will keep the 18-year-old center back and US national team prospect with the English Premier League side until the 2018-19 season.

The promising youngster has yet to earn minutes in a league match in England's top division, but has gotten closer to seeing the field by dressing in five games this campaign. He recently made his first-team debut with Spurs, however, by starting, going the distance, and helping post a clean sheet in a 5-0 win over Gillingham in a League Cup tilt on Sept. 21.

Carter-Vickers, who has earned his share of praise from Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino this year, began to make a name for himself in 2015. The English-born defender was a member of the US Under-20 and Under-23 national teams that competed in the Under-20 World Cup and CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying, respectively, and impressed with several of his performances.
