Toronto FC Academy Under 16s kept the heat on front runners Italia Shooters in the Canadian Soccer League Reserve Division with a convincing 3-0 win over Portugal FC on Monday night. Justin Maheu scored twice in the first half and Allando Matheson added a third goal with five minutes left to play.
"We played some excellent football," said U16 Head Coach Stuart Neely. "It was a great performance by the boys who faced an individually talented Portugal team. Over the last few matches we have played a variety of formations. In each case they have responded very well to the challenges that each possess against different opposition. It is encouraging to see the group play football under pressure and enjoy the game," said Neely.
The U16s next challenge is on Wednesday September 17th against North York Astros at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Kick off is 7:00 p.m.
