St. Louis could be set to take its next big step en route to MLS with a team name and logo set to be announced “very soon,” according to team owner Carolyn Kindle Betz.

Betz told St. Louis-based KMOX News Radio 1120 they received 6,000 suggestions on their website and whittled down the list to the top five or six.

“We’re hoping that it will come in the next couple weeks,” she said.

Betz is also hoping to ride the momentum the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL have set.

“I was at their first game Sunday and it was crazy — the passion, the energy and the excitement, it’s great for the BattleHawks, but it’s also great for the entire city of St. Louis,” she said. “Selfishly, it helps us as an ownership group because we have been talking about how passionate St. Louis fans are for their sports. Not only did they deliver, they knocked it out of the park.”

Betz added that the family atmosphere she witnessed at the game is something she'd like to become a staple of her Major League Soccer team’s home matches.

“I think the other thing that was fun to watch was fathers taking their kids and families creating new memories of going to an XFL game,” Betz said. “To be able to sit here and say in two years that could be us, you’re going to have new experiences, first-time experiences and I think that’s the excitement you have to work toward starting now to March of 2022.”
