San Jose Earthquakes to make donation to local organizations on behalf of new signings

The San Jose Earthquakes are making a donation to a local organization on behalf of Eduardo "Chofis" Lopez as part of the club's practice of doing so for all new signings brought into the club.

The Quakes announced on Sunday the club will be donating to MACLA (Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana) on behalf of Lopez, who was officially signed by San Jose from Chivas Guadalajara earlier this week. San Jose announced in Sunday's release the club will make a financial donation to local organizations on behalf of all new signings.

MACLA is an inclusive contemporary arts space grounded in the Chicano/Latino experience that incubates new visual, literary and performance art in order to engage people in civic dialogue and community transformation. More than 30,000 participants take part it in the 50 programs MACLA produces each year in four core program tracts: visual arts, performance and literary arts, youth arts education and community development through the arts.

The donations are made through the club's Quakes Foundation, which facilitates and supports programs that produce positive change for children and families in the San Jose community with an emphasis in health and fitness.
