Reserves: Wizards 5, Revolution 2

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - KC's Yura Movsisyan scored three goals and added one assist while Ryan Pore scored two goals as the Kansas City Wizards Reserves defeated the New England Revolution Reserves, 5-2, on Sunday morning at the Upper Practice Field at Gillette Stadium. José Cancela and Willie Sims each netted goals for the Revs.

Kansas City (7-2-1, 22 pts.) tested the Revolution early, forcing Revs keeper Doug Warren to come up with a save in the fourth minute on a long-range Matt Groenwald shot. Three minutes later, Warren also made a leaping save on Will John's free kick from 20 yards out.

Movsisyan scored the first of his three goals in the 32nd minute when he took a long, looping shot toward the upper right corner from the left-center channel, 20 yards out, over the outstretched hand of Warren. Stephen Shirley played Movsisyan out of the backfield for the assist on the goal.

Kansas City went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, but quickly boosted its lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute with Movsisyan's second goal of the game. He worked into the penalty area on the left side and then dribbled around his defender, sending a shot to the far post and into the side netting.

However, New England (0-7-4, 4 pts.) pulled within one goal in the 50th minute when Cancela sent a 20-yard free kick over the Wizards' five-man wall and into the upper right corner of the goal. Miguel Gonzalez, who had checked into the game at halftime, earned the free kick when he was fouled on a run towards goal.

Warren made saves on Kansas City's next two trips into the attacking third, but he was unable to stop Pore's penalty kick attempt in the 59th minute. Movsisyan drew the spot kick when he again worked into the 18-yard box down the left side and was fouled when he made the turn toward goal. Movsisyan completed his hat trick in the 62nd minute when he netted a cross from John from the left side.

Sims scored his team-leading third goal in Reserve Division play in the 75th minute when he knocked in a short José Manuel Abundis pass in the area. Cancela sent an angled cross in to the box from the right center channel, which Abundis brought down with his back to goal, and laid off a short pass to Sims five yards out. Sims fired it past KC keeper Will Hesmer.

Pore closed the scoring in the 86th minute when he redirected a quick cross from Movsisyan. The fourth overall pick at the 2006 MLS Super Draft sent a quick, powerful cross in from the left edge of the penalty area along the touchline, connecting with Pore who ran onto the pass at the far post unmarked.

Warren made 13 saves in the loss, a season-high for the New England keeper. Hesmer made two saves to help preserve the victory.
