Merritt Paulson -- Shades -- 2017

A Portland Timbers game at Providence Park is a can’t miss event in Major League Soccer. An old minor league baseball stadium transformed into a soccer mecca, where the fans arrive early and sing until — and often after — the final whistle.

So it should be no surprise that the club’s outspoken owner, Merritt Paulson, is also a fan of music, specifically live music.

During the break from the season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Paulson took to Twitter to list his all-time favorite live music performances. Go down the YouTube rabbit hole and check out Paulton's eclectic top five (with an honorable mention) that spans nearly 40 years.

  • Stevie Nicks — Wild Heart, Live Demo (1981)
  • Rolling Stones featuring Axl Rose — Salt of the Earth (1989)
  • Maggie Rogers — Burning (2019)
  • HAIM — The Steps (2020)
