Save of the Week

Orlando's Joe Bendik wins MLS Save of the Week for Week 22

His team didn’t earn a result, but Orlando City goalkeeper Joe Bendik might take some solace in winning MLS Save of the Week honors for Week 22.

Bendik won the award for a fantastic one-handed stop on Impact midfielder Blerim Dzemaili in Orlando’s 2-1 loss at Montreal on Saturday. Dzemaili collected a Ignacio Piatti pass at the top of the box and let fly with his first touch, forcing Bendik to dive to his left and paw the powerful shot around the post.

The save took home 43 percent of the Save of the Week vote. Seattle’s Stefan Frei finished second with 24 percent of the tally, while Chicago’s Matt Lampson (13 percent), New York’s Luis Robles (11 percent) and Columbus’ Zack Steffen (eight percent) rounded out the field.

Bendik and seventh-place Orlando will look to climb above the playoff line on Saturday with a win at the Red Bulls (7:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE).
