Montreal Impact to have home opener at Stade Saputo for first time

Stade Saputo - general - crowd - Montreal Impact

For the first time in the club's MLS history, the Montreal Impact will play their home opener at Stade Saputo rather than the Olympic Stadium, the club announced Monday.

Stade Saputo, opened in 2012, is the club's primary home though they have played games at the Olympic Stadium at various times, for larger crowds and under non-ideal weather conditions.

ā€œThis decision should please our Members and supporters, who have wished for a long time that every home game was played in our stadium,ā€ said EVP, strategic development and communications, Richard Legendre. ā€œStade Saputo is our home, our fortress. The Olympic Stadium has served us well these last few years and nothing says we wonā€™t be back in the future.ā€
