How have the US national team fared in the 10 Copa America Centenario venues? Who should they want to face?

Levi's Stadium - wide shot - Soccer configuration

The Copa América Centenario dates and locations are set and we know where the US national team will be playing come next June.

The US will open play on June 3 in Santa Clara, California at Levi's Stadium. Next they will travel to Chicago, Illinois to play at Soldier Field on June 7 and they will finish group play at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 11.

USMNT have plenty of games in the Bay Area and Chicago while they have traveled infrequently to the city of Brotherly Love. The US have winning records all-time in the Bay Area (including San Francisco, Oakland, Palo Alto and San Jose) and Chicago while they have been .500 in their few games in Philly. Their most recent game in the area came in the third place game of the Gold Cup, which they lost on penalty kicks to Panama.

These are the USMNT's records in each of their three group-stage venues:

BAY AREA: 11-6-3
CHICAGO: 7-4-3
PHILADELPHIA: 2-2-2

Gettting down to specific stadiums, the USA have yet to play at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara but have played games at Soldier Field and the Link. They have posted a favorable record at those two venues:

SOLDIER FIELD: 6-4-3
LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD: 2-0-1

Jurgen Klinsmann's team last played at Lincoln Financial Field in 2011 in a draw against Mexico, a game which just so happened to be Klinsmann's first as the US head coach. USMNT's last visit to Soldier Field ended on a joyous note when Klinsmann and co. took home the 2013 Gold Cup trophy after defeating Panama, 1-0, in the final.

With this announcement of venues came the news that USA, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil are the four-seeded teams going into the draw. That means that the field has been narrowed to 14 potential group-stage opponents for the USMNT.

Eight of those 14 teams hail from South America, while Costa Rica and Jamaica are two teams from CONCACAF that have already booked their spots. The last four teams (Panama, Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti) will be fighting for the last two spots in the tournament when they face off in a playoff in January.

The US have a favorable record against most of the CONCACAF teams, as you would expect, but have struggled over the years against South American teams, as you can see below. Peru and Venezuela are the only two South American teams that USA has a winning record against, all-time.

BOLIVIA: 0-2-4
CHILE: 3-5-2
COLOMBIA: 3-10-4
COSTA RICA: 13-14-6
CUBA: 9-1-1
ECUADOR: 2-5-5
HAITI: 6-6-5
JAMAICA: 13-2-8
PANAMA: 12-2-3
PARAGUAY: 2-2-2
PERU: 3-2-1
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: 16-2-4
URUGUAY: 2-2-2
VENEZUELA: 3-0-1
