Chicago Fire Soccer in the community: Aug. 26 - 30

CHICAGO - The Chicago Fire is participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area over the next week. Throughout the year, the Chicago Fire participates in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.


This week's events range from a series of Clínicas Aguilas Fire soccer clinics operated through a partnership between the Chicago Fire and Mexico's Club America to an autograph session with Chicago Fire defender Wilman Conde.

What: Wilman Conde will be at Tony's Finer Foods to sign autographs for fans!


Fire Fridays at Brookfield Zoo

When: Friday, August 28, 2009; 10am-1pm
Where: Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Rd, Brookfield, IL
What: Join the Chicago Fire and WXRT Radio for a fun-filled day at the zoo! Take a break from seeing all the cool zoo animals and bounce through the Chicago Fire obstacle course inflatable and pick up cool giveaways from radio station WXRT!


Clínicas Aguilas Fire

When: Saturday, August 29, 2009; 8am-11am
Where: Marquette park, 6734 S. Kedzie Ave. Chicago, IL 60629
What: The Chicago Fire, in partnership with Club America, are hosting 4 clinics around the Chicagoland area August 29-30th, 2009. Clinics are $45 per participant, and each participant receives a ball, tshirt and a free ticket to the Chicago Fire vs Columbus Crew match on September 20th at 2pm! Viva Chicago Latin Music Fest

Who: Sparky
When: Saturday, August 29, 2009; 11am-9pm (Sparky present at 11:00am-1:00pm)
Where: Grant Park, Jackson Blvd. & Columbus Dr. Chicago, IL 60604
What: Sparky will be dancing to the beat this Saturday at Viva! Chicago Latin Music Festival. This festival showcases local, national and international talent in the various Latin music genres that include salsa, reggaeton, mariachi, norteña, Spanish pop and more. Stop by the Best Buy and Chicago Fire areas and kick to win an autographed jersey, tshirt, hat and other cool prizes!


Clínicas Aguilas Fire

What: The Chicago Fire, in partnership with Club America, are hosting 4 clinics around the Chicagoland area August 29-30th, 2009. Cardinal Fitness 5K

When: Sunday, August 30, 2009; 9am-noon
Where: Lippord Park, 851 W route 176, crystal lake, IL
What: Register today to run in the first annual Cardinal Fitness 5K race, benefiting the Join the Chicago Fire and WXRT Radio for a fun-filled day at the zoo! Check in begins at 8:30am, and the race kicks off at 10am. Fans can register at any participating Cardinal Fitness store, and there is no cost to enter and run! In lieu of an entry fee, fans are asked to make a donation to the Livestrong Foundation at www.livestrong.org/grassroots2009/cardinalfitness.

Chicago Fire Soccer was founded on October 8, 1997 as a Major League Soccer expansion team. The Fire won the MLS Cup in its inaugural season in 1998 and was crowned the champion of U.S. Soccer's national tournament, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
