US Open Cup overlay: Brandon Vazquez and Mikey Ambrose celebrate a goal for Atlanta

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Following a two hour and 42 minute rain delay, Atlanta United came out flat in the first half of their U.S. Open Cup match against their USL affiliate, the Charleston Battery. But they came from behind not once, but twice in the match to secure a 3-2 win and move on to the Fifth Round.

Charleston took an early lead but Atlanta United’s Kevin Kratz equalized in the 30th minute. Unfortunately just one minute later, the Battery’s Dante Marini knocked in a goal from long distance with the help of a deflection.

Atlanta looked the more dangerous side throughout the second half after some changes, and the game-winning goal finally came in the 72nd minute when Brandon Vazquez hammered home a Mikey Ambrose cross. Vazquez previously provided an assist on a Josef Martinez goal in the Venezuelan's first start since returning from injury.
