A look at all the outgoing MLS transfers in 2021

Mark McKenzie - Philadelphia Union - pass upfield

Mark McKenzie

Transferred to: KRC Genk (Belgian First Division A)
MLS club: Philadelphia Union
Position: Defender
Transfer date: January 7, 2021
Reported transfer fee: $6 million

McKenzie joined a growing list of young American players heading to Europe, following up a strong season with Philadelphia with a move to Genk in Belgium. The multi-million dollar deal benefits the Union in obvious ways, but the club will also collect a percentage of any future transfer fees for McKenzie.

Chris Cadden

Transferred to: Hibernian FC (Scottish Premiership)
MLS club: Columbus Crew SC
Position: Defender
Transfer date: January 15, 2021
Reported transfer fee: Unknown

Cadden returns to his native Scotland after a year with Columbus, playing 10 games as they won MLS Cup in 2020. While in Columbus, Cadden was a reserve defender.

Miguel Nazarit

Transferred to: Independiente Santa Fe (loan for the 2021 Categoria Primera A season)
MLS club: Nashville SC
Position: Defender
Transfer date: January 22, 2021
Reported transfer fee: N/A

Nazarit returns to his native Colombia after not playing for Nashville SC in 2020. He joined the then-expansion club as a TAM player ahead of their inaugural campaign.

Jordan Morris

Transferred to: Swansea City (loan until the end of the 2020-21 Championship season)
MLS club: Seattle Sounders
Position: Forward
Transfer date: January 22, 2021
Reported transfer fee: N/A

Morris made his long-anticipated move overseas, joining Swansea as they aim for promotion to the Premier League. He departed the US men's national team's January camp early to complete the signing, then made his Swansea debut on January 30.

David Accam

Transferred to: Hammarby (Allsvenskan, 12-month loan with an option to buy)
MLS club: Nashville SC
Position: Midfielder
Transfer date: January 28, 2021
Reported transfer fee: N/A

Accam leaves Nashville after playing only seven games for the expansion team in 2020. He returns to Sweden, where he played from 2012-14 for Ostersunds and Helsingborgs.

Daryl Dike

Transferred to: Barnsley (short-term loan, recall option)
MLS club: Orlando City SC
Position: Forward
Transfer date: February 1, 2021
Reported transfer fee: N/A

It's been a pretty remarkable year for Dike, who went from a first-round SuperDraft pick in Orlando to receiving his first US men's national team cap, enabling him to get a work permit to play for Barnsley. Orlando have the right to recall the forward.

Bryan Reynolds

Transferred to: AS Roma (loan until the end of the Serie A season, obligation to buy)
MLS club: FC Dallas
Position: Defender
Transfer date: February 1, 2021
Reported transfer fee: $8 million

The highly-rated FC Dallas youngster heads to Italy on a club-record fee. The deal begins as a loan, and the full transfer will be complete in the summer. Reynolds became FCD's starting right back after Reggie Cannon was previously transferred to Portuguese side Boavista FC.

Brian Rodriguez

Transferred to: UD Almeria (loan until the end of the 2020-21 Segunda Division season, option to buy)
MLS club: LAFC
Position: Forward
Transfer date: February 1, 2021
Reported transfer fee: N/A

Rodriguez joins Almeria as the club pushes for promotion to La Liga, arriving on a deal that will become permanent if certain performance thresholds are met. The move frees up a Designated Player spot for LAFC, with Rodriguez part of Uruguay's senior national team.

Paul Arriola

Transferred to: Swansea City (loan until the end of the 2020-21 Championship season, recall option)
MLS club: D.C. United
Position: Midfielder
Transfer date: February 1, 2021
Reported transfer fee: N/A

Arriola became the second US men's national team player to join Swansea on loan this window, following Jordan Morris' deal. Arriola's move currently doesn't have an option to buy and D.C. United can recall him before May 4, but Swansea is chasing promotion to the Premier League and a source tells MLSsoccer.com that the deal could still become permanent.
