The MLS is Back Tournament provides a platform for the newly-formed Black Players Coalition to speak up about necessary change, according to Atlanta United and US men’s national team defender Miles Robinson.

In a conversation with ESPN's Taylor Twellman, Robinson said an open dialogue is the first step to meaningful change from systemic racism. He said it’s happened on his team, where the club’s Latin players have shared their experiences also dealing with racism. And although they come from a different background than Robinson, the center back said there’s unprecedented momentum in the movement.

“I think most players in the league are all for it, they’re all for change, all for the greater good because the momentum is coming, it’s finally coming,” Robinson said. “And once you have the momentum, you can’t stop. You can’t take your foot off the gas.”
