Canada's Alphonso Davies sets up the winner as Bayern Munich reach German cup final

Alphonso Davies - German Cup - vs Frankfurt

Alphonso Davies continued his breakout Bundesliga season for Bayern Munich on Wednesday by setting up Robert Lewandowski's eventual match-winner in a 2-1 DFB Pokal semifinal victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

After starting in his customary left back spot, the Canada national team star and former Vancouver Whitecaps winger was pushed into the front three for the final half-hour, while Lucas came on to replace initial goal-scorer Ivan Perisic and assumed Davies' previous role.

Bayern then conceded a 69th-minute equalizer, but five minutes later Davies got free on the right side of the penalty area and spotted Lewandowski for a simple finish. Originally ruled offside on the play, Davies was judged to have held his run following Video Review.

Having helped Bayern to a third successive final, Davies will try to help Bayern win their second successive cup title and 20th in club history on July 4 in Berlin. He has three goals and nine assists in 34 appearances (30 starts) across all competitions this season.

US national team midfielder Timothy Chandler started and went the full 90 minutes in defeat for Frankfurt.
