Chicago Fire FC announced yet another young signing from the club's academy on Wednesday, inking forward Alex Monis to a Homegrown contract.

Monis becomes the 18th Homegrown signing in club history and the third academy product to sign this week, following midfielders Javier Casas and Brian Gutierrez. The contract will keep Monis with Chicago through 2023, with a club option for 2024.

"We're pleased to announce Alex as a Homegrown signing for the Chicago Fire," head coach Raphael Wicky said in a Wednesday release. "Alex is a talented player and while this is a big step, we believe he is ready to develop within the first team environment and continue to sharpen his soccer abilities."

Monis, 16, started with the club's youth affiliate Fire Juniors before joining the Chicago academy, where he scored 10 goals and dished out two assists while starting 18 out of his 19 appearances.

Like Casas and Gutierrez, Monis has been a regular on the US youth international scene, including on the U-16 side that won the 2019 Nike International Friendlies. Monis played a key role in the final of that tournament, picking up the assist on teammate Dante Sealy's match-winning goal.
