Report: New York Red Bulls pursuing French left back Jason Pendant

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report

The New York Red Bulls may be looking to France's Ligue 2 to fill the absence left by Jamaican international left back Kemar Lawrence, according to a report from Loic Tanzi of French outlet RMC Sport.

The Red Bulls are in "advanced negotiations" to sign Sochaux's 22-year-old Jason Pendant, Tanzi said on Twitter, though he added the deal is not yet complete.

As SB Nation site Once A Metro points out, such a move would at the very least allow coach Chris Armas another needed option at the position. 2020 MLS SuperDraft first-round pick Patrick Seagrist started and played all 90 minutes of the Red Bulls' 3-2 season opening win against FC Cincinnati.

Pendant has 69 career league starts, including 17 this season for Sochaux.
