One of the earliest names linked to Inter Miami CF has comes back around, with AS reporting that the 2020 MLS expansion club has made a bid for Edison Cavani, potentially complicating a move to Spain.

The Uruguayan forward currently plays for French club Paris Saint-Germain, though the latest reports have Cavani desiring to play for Spanish side Atletico Madrid. The path to La Liga might not be so straightforward, though, with AS noting that Inter Miami have made an offer to PSG.

Cavani, 32, would bring immediate star power to Inter Miami, with co-owner/president David Beckham having a connection to PSG after playing his final season there in 2013. Cavani has 50 goals in 116 games for Uruguay, and has been playing in Europe since 2007 for Palermo, Napoli and PSG.

Inter Miami have been reported alongside no shortage of high-priced attackers, with Colombia forward Roger Martinez, Chelsea winger Pedro and Monterrey striker Rogelio Funes Mori all linked to the MLS newcomers in recent weeks.

When the club unveiled head coach Diego Alonso last week, managing owner Jorge Mas acknowledged the work that remains in building out their roster. Updates would be coming soon, he indicated.

“We still have two Designated Player positions to fill," Mas said. "We are still building the team. You will see five or six players incorporated into the team in the coming weeks. We are less interested in the name of these players but more so in their character.”
