The moves keep on coming for Columbus Crew SC, who signed midfielder Youness Mokhtar on Friday. The Dutch winger will add a dynamic piece in attack for Caleb Porter's team. Mokhtar will officially be added to the Black & Gold roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa and will occupy an international roster slot. Targeted Allocation Money was used in this transaction.

Mokhtar, 27, was acquired as a free agent, having most recently played for Stabaek in Norway. He has also suited up for various clubs in the Netherlands, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, accruing 47 goals and 39 assists across his professional career.

“We would like to welcome Youness Mokhtar to Columbus Crew SC. Youness is a creative and dynamic player who can add variety to our attack,” Crew SC president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement. “As a veteran, he brings years of proven European experience to our club. We believe that his specific skill set will allow him to thrive in MLS.”

The midfielder came up through the youth system at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, plus has featured on various youth national teams for Morocco (U-20, U-21) and the Netherlands (U-17, U-18).

Mokhtar has appeared in two Europa League qualifiers, both while he was at Dutch club FC Twente.
