Florentin Pogba makes Atlanta United debut in record-breaking night

Florentin Pogba waters off - Atlanta United

One appearance, one win, one clean sheet: It was a successful Atlanta United debut for center back Florentin Pogba

Pogba started at center back for the Five Stripes against the Vancouver Whitecaps, in a new-look defense that produced the same ol' result, their fifth shutout victory in a row, setting a new MLS record.

"I think Pogba played a fantastic game today, he didn't make a mistake," said head coach Frank de Boer after the match. "He was also very good in the buildup and defensively he was very good. It wasn't easy, but you can see his experience and it was fantastic."

The 28-year-old had a clean match, completing 92% of his 49 passes and had six recoveries.

Atlanta left Michael Parkhurst behind and Miles Robinson on the bench for rotation, who would expect to return to the lineup against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday (5 pm ET | FS1 — Full TV & streaming info) but Pogba's strong performance gives Frank de Boer more options in defense.
