Montreal Impact Goalkeeper Evan Bush Voted MLS Player of the Week

– Montreal Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week for the ninth week of the 2019 MLS season.  
Montreal defeated the Chicago Fire 1-0 at Stade Saputo on Sunday behind two saves and a clean sheet performance from Bush. The Impact lead MLS with five shutouts this season, with Bush posting clean sheets in five of the previous seven matches played. Montreal is tied for first in the Eastern Conference with 17 points (5-3-2 overall record).
Bush made crucial back-to-back saves in the opening minutes of the contest to keep the match scoreless. In the sixth minute, Bush made a diving stop on Nicolás Gaitán’s shot and deflected the ball back into the box (

). Nemanja Nikolić rebounded the deflection and sent a shot toward goal, only for Bush to come up big once again with a save from the ground (

). Bush would hold Chicago scoreless the remainder of the match and the Impact prevailed on an Omar Browne goal in the 83

minute.
Montreal returns to action on Saturday, May 4 when hosting New York City FC at Stade Saputo (5 p.m. ET, TVA Sports / ESPN+).  
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
