Jonathan dos Santos scores first international goal in win over Paraguay

Jonathan dos Santos goal celebration vs. Paraguay

Jonathan dos Santos scored his first international goal to help pace Mexico to a 4-2 win over Paraguay in an International friendly at Levi’s Stadium Tuesday night.

The LA Galaxy midfielder latched onto Bruno Valdez’s poor attempt to clear a ball played over the top by Edson Alvarez and lashed a shot from just outside of the six-yard box to put El Tri in front after six minutes.

Following an own goal by Gustavo Gomez in the ninth minute, dos Santos picked up the assist on Chicharito Hernandez’s 51st career international goal to give Mexico a commanding 3-0 lead in the 24th minute.

It was an emotional experience for dos Santos, arguably Mexico's Man of the Match against a Paraguay side that ended with 10 men after former Atlanta United standout Miguel Almiron was sent off on a straight red card for a tackle from behind.
