Colorado Rapids' Tommy Smith scores by the narrowest of margins

The Colorado Rapids were pushing for an equalizer during their game against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, and in the 69th minute, defender Tommy Smith pushed the ball over the line to tie up the game.

Or did he?

In what has to be one of the tightest goal calls possible, Smith's bundled-in effort off a Rapids free kick right in front of goal was quickly pushed away by Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez, and initial replays did not seem to show the ball had completely crossed the line.

The play went to Video Review, and it appears that referee Chris Penso, while watching the replay on his field-side screen, did get an angle that showed the ball went fully over the line, and he awarded the goal. The Rapids tied up the game, but ended up losing 2-1 on the day.
