An impressive number of Atlanta United fans made the long trip to Heredia, Costa Rica for Thursday's Concacaf Champions League match vs. CS Herediano, their team's first-ever match in international competition.
And their ranks included Arthur Blank, the club's owner, revered as "Uncle Arthur" for his commitment to and support of the high-flying Five Stripes.
Blank was in the house at the cozy Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero (capacity: 8,700), watching the action alongside team president Darren Eales, not far from the ranks of the traveling support.
Unfortunately for Uncle Arthur and the rest of the away contingent, ATLUTD struggled mightily in their CCL debut, losing 3-1 to give themselves a hefty comeback challenge in next week's second leg at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia.
