The Portland Timbers are still looking to sign a forward on a Designated Player contract, but have yet to reach a deal.

Tigres and Chile international forward Eduardo Vargas is the club's latest target. According to Univision and ESPN reports, and confirmed by MLSsoccer.com's Sam Stejskal, the Timbers have placed a bid around $10 million for the 29-year-old, but talks are still ongoing and no deal has been reached.

Fellow Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac went to social media on Wednesday to say "NO SE VA" which translates to "he's not going" in reference to reports linking Vargas with a move to Portland.

Vargas has 27 goals in 92 appearances with Tigres since joining in 2017. He has spent time in Europe with Napoli, Hoffenheim, QPR and Valencia. With the Chilean national team, Vargas has 35 goals in 82 appearances.

The Timbers were initially reported to be in the market for a young forward, with Tigres' Julian Quinones and AEK Athens' Ezequiel Ponce in recent weeks.
