Vancouver Whitecaps FC academy defeat Real Madrid during Spanish trip

Members of Vancouver Whitecaps FC's U-17 and U-15 academy teams completed their trip to Spain this week with a 1-0 win over a Real Madrid youth team coached by club legend Raul.

A second-half penalty earned and scored by Whitecaps FC midfielder Kam Habibullah was the difference in the match, with Vancouver's youth players earning valuable experience and training time on the trip, which included scrimmages against three Madrid-area La Liga youth teams: CD Leganes, Rayo Vallecano, and Real Madrid.

The trip also featured a trip to the famed Santiago Bernabeu stadium, home of Real Madrid, and the Whitecaps players watched the defending Champions League team play in the competition against CSKA Moscow last week.
