Though late strikes from Tito Villalba and Miguel Almiron secured the margin of victory, everyone in the home clubhouse wanted to crow about the rare and stunning form of Martinez this season. Lee Nguyen and Diego Rossi netted second half goals as LAFC made it two home shutout victories in four days with a 2-0 success against Colorado on Sunday night. Big Apple boys drop points away

The New York Red Bulls only mildly capitalized on the slip of their city rival, settling for a 2-2 draw at Vancouver. After Kendall Waston had put the hosts up by completing a brace, Daniel Royer answered near time with his second of the game. RECAP
Sounders crush the Galaxy
Seattle crept closer to the playoff zone by posting their club-record sixth straight win, routing the LA Galaxy, 5-0, at CenturyLink Field on Saturday. The two-time defending Western champs are now but two points out of the last playoff spot, and in-form midfielder Harry Shipp insists that no one will be getting complacent in the clubhouse just because they've had a nice late summer run. FCD, SKC get stingy at home
A couple familiar Western Conference contenders each enhanced their playoff standings with shutout victories at home. The duo was led by first-place FC Dallas, who stayed three points above the chasing pack by easing to a weather-delayed 2-0 win over Saturday guests Minnesota United. RECAP
Up in Kansas City, Diego Rubio hit twice to lead Sporting KC to their third straight win, a 3-0 decision against visiting Portland. The result narrowly kept the Children's Mercy Park crew in second place in the West. RECAP
RSL, Montreal leave it very late
Real Salt Lake playmaker Albert Rusnak became the first MLS player to strike for an equalizer and a winnner during stoppage time of the same game in their 2-1 defeat of Saturday hosts Houston. Rusnak's weren't the only late heroics as Daniel Lovitz bagged the last-minute winner to lift Montreal to a 2-1 victory over visiting Chicago. The result moved the Impact four points clear of New England for the final playoff spot in the East. RECAP
Late Wondo strike knots up TFC
