Houston’s Treviño wins inaugural eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation

New York (April 8, 2018) – Houston Dynamo’s Memo Treviño, better known by his gamer tag Kid M3Mito, hoisted the trophy for the the inaugural eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation on Sunday. Treviño defeated Montreal Impact’s Lyes Ould-Ramoul (LyesMTL) in the eMLS Cup Final by a combined 6-4 aggregate score over the course of the two-legged Championship series.

The twenty-one year-old Houston native went undefeated through 21 tournament matches and tallied 94 goals in front of a packed crowd at the PAX Arena Main Stage at the gaming festival, PAX East.

The preliminary rounds for the competition took place on Thursday, April 5 through Friday, April 6, with 19 competitors vying for a spot in the playoffs which commenced on Saturday. Entering Sunday’s Conference Finals, four competitors remained. The Eastern Conference matchup featured the Montreal Impact’s Ould-Ramoul and NYCFC’s Chris Holly, while the Western Conference featured the Texas Derby between Houston’s Treviño and Alan Avila of FC Dallas.

By advancing to the eMLS Cup Final, both Treviño and Ould-Ramoul qualified for the EA SPORTS FIFA 18TM Global Series Playoffs on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018. NYCFC’s Chris Holly finished in third place, but had previously qualified for the Global Series Playoffs at the EA SPORTS FUT Champions Cup Barcelona in January.

The EA SPORTS FIFA 18TM Global Series Playoffs this June will feature 64 players in each playoff series, with 32 players advancing to the eWorld Cup in August, where the winner will be crowned the undisputed FIFA 18 World Champion.
